However times have changed and I’ve been reminded how fabulous they can be thanks to one of my favourite films Kinky Boots.

Not only does Chiwetel Ejiofor play Lola superbly, he also sings on every track she performs. All Lola’s songs were produced by Robbie Williams collaborator Guy Chambers, largely responsible for the once again Take That star’s solo success. Thanks to Chambers all Lola’s songs have all been produced and performed to perfection.

You’ll need Spotify for this week’s Song for the Weekend but it’ll be worth it if you’ve not heard it. Together We are Beautiful was first performed by Fern Kinney and reached #1 in the UK back in March 1980.  If anything, Chiwetel Ejiofor’s version will help you dispel Martine McCutchen’s rendition from your life, forever.
